Right from the start there were so many signs pointing to his litter, including that I just happened to be going down to California when they were 4 weeks old. Even before I met the puppies though, something about him had drawn me to him even from when he was a tiny pup on the webcam - meeting him in person just sealed the deal. He has always had great energy and just a presence that felt so right to me. He was not at all what I was originally looking for, but he is exactly what I wanted.
He was named after Captain Navarre from the movie Ladyhawke, took me quite a while to find the right name - but it just FITS him. And, no, when I picked out the name I didn't know that he was going to have blue eyes - sort of cracks up how he even LOOKS like him ....
Navarre is an interesting dog of contradictions, both very independent yet super snuggly and loving, athletic yet calm, serious and totally dorky and both oblivious and sensitive, somehow all at the same time. He gets along well with others, yet is a strong, confident dog that is not going to back down - Navarre has OPINIONS about things, and he's not shy about letting you know. He even won over Bright, they are super best friends. He's just a wonderful companion, I adore living with him and he's so easy to have around the house - he's just the most relaxed dog.
So glad he came into my life when he did, we are having so much fun together in agility, herding and obedience. He's been a slow to mature dog, but just gets better and better with age. My giant happy cuddly dork, who knew he was the perfect dog for me?
